The Challenge of no attack ads, against Tom Mulcair

Justin has been clear since the beginning of this campaign, “his party will buy ads that contrast Liberal policy with that of rival parties, but he “won’t be talking about beards or hair.” on July 4th, 2015 in the Calgary Herald. Since I am supportive of Justin Trudeau to be the next Prime Minister of Canada and because as Justin said in the same article “I just also know they hurt your ability once you are in government to actually govern. … I think Canadians have had quite enough of that approach to politics.”, I intend to do everything I can in my articles to do the same. The real question will be. Have Canadians had quite enough of that approach to politics?

I hope so. Sadly I’m not seeing this indication. We continue to have false and misleading ads from the Conservatives. Possibly the most dishonest advertising in the history of Canadian politics. now sadly the NDP have joined the “pile-on” that seems to be Canadian politics “race to the bottom’ I was optimistic at the beginning of the campaign when Tom Mulcair joined in Justin’s commitment, and promised that the NDP would not use Attack Ads. Perhaps the most powerful part of this promise was that it’s not just captured in a newspaper quote, we have Tom Mulcair himself speaking his commitment against attack ads. Then it seems the going got tough and the weak forgot their promises. However, the NDP went one better than the Conservatives. Not only did they bring out an ad similar to the Conservatives, they bragged how they did it first.

The commitment that Justin has made certainly does not make things easy for either himself or his candidates. Attack Ads are easy. It is always easy to resort to those kind of low blow shots such as Tom Mulcair’s smart comment against Justin during the debate, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMqZtN2-Ihg

It does present a challenge to avoid attack ads when we are facing against a candidate who seems to have no problem telling Canadians one story then, barely taking a breath, telling them another.
